Dyllas & Maerdy Court

The refurbishment works carried out at both Dyllas & Maerdy Court included the conversion of social housing flats into new social housing units for the elderly and their carers. The works included total internal refurbishment, mechanical and electrical installations, refurbishment to external envelope, external hard and soft landscaping, and drainage works to accommodate the new internal layout. Both projects were situated in busy residential areas adjacent to main roads. All flats were vacant during the works.

The refurbishment of Dyllas Court has received a Gold award standard in the RNIB ‘Visibly Better’ accreditation and was also shortlisted for the RICS Wales 2015 Residential project of the year award.

On this project, we have worked in conjunction with GrEW Enterprise and have 2 operatives employed on work placements, learning multi-skilled trades. We have also participated in the clients Give & Gain Day, donating materials and labour to provide a sensory garden to allow tenants suffering with any form of sight loss or impairment to be able to safely access the garden using different senses.

Both sites have been registered with the Considerate Constructors scheme. Dyllas Court received a Silver Considerate Constructors Award and a performance beyond compliance certificate after receiving scores of 40 and 42 out of 50. Maerdy Court will be entered in to the next round of Considerate Constructors awards after achieving scores of 39 and 41 out of 50.
