Municipal Building – Pontypridd

This £1m project involved the relocation of registrar services into the municipal buildings, Pontypridd.

This is a 3 storey and basement grade II listed building that was built in the mid 19th Century to act as an important council building which includes the Council Chamber and Lord Mayors Parlour. Other aspects involved the introduction of disabled access, archive facilities and improved community spaces, with administration areas.

Works were performed in the tight town centre location, surrounded by main roads and with a major bus route on both sites of the building. Traffic management plans were developed, including travel plans for the labour force and subcontractors and restricted delivery and distribution times of materials were in place. We had to accommodate major scaffolding and consideration for the safety of the public was at the forefront of all decision making.
