Urban Village

The works in this £5.4mill project includes the transformation of a former warehouse on Kings Lane, Swansea into 3 floors of office and creative space as well as construction of the 'Creative Cluster' which is a new build development featuring 30,000sqft of commercial and office space situated over 5 floors, providing a hub for small start-ups and creative companies as well as space for performing arts.

We have carried out part demolition and conversion of the 100 year old three storey warehouse in the centre of Swansea City, into an office block and training centre for long term unemployed people. Part of the original building is medieval and our site manager maintained close communication with archaeologists in order to monitor and record any artefacts.

The construction of the six storey ‘Creative Cluster’ building is the final aspect of the Urban Village scheme. Whilst also concluding the site footprint, the new RC structure ties back into the existing Coastal Housing offices through pre-designed ‘break out’ panels installed in the first phase of the development.

The project team has already received early recognition for this development, having been shortlisted for the Chartered Institute Housing’s “Most Community focused Contractor”, which demonstrates our commitment to sustainable construction.
