Mead West Vaco

R&M Williams were appointed to deliver a 1500 sq/m industrial unit for Mead West Vaco at Yate in Bristol, the £2.3mill scheme had to be delivered in 21 weeks to meet the shipping requirements of new Printing Equipment being delivered form their parent company in Virginia, USA.

Groundworks commencing Jan 2014, with the building being watertight by mid-April, Project Architect, Gerald Organ paid testament to the R&M site team who managed to maintain programme through one of the wettest winters on record. The finished unit benefitted from a new welfare block, test laboratory along with a full sprinkler and M&E services installation to the production area with external canopy and car park facilities.

Dewatering the site was key to our success, early CBR tests showed the site was like a sponge so we excavated drainage pits and introduced sludge busters to drain the site and maintain progress and credit should also go to our supply chain who were excellent in being proactive and buying in to the challenging programme.
