Clase Environmental WHQS improvements

We were engaged to carry out external improvement works for Swansea County Council on 444 properties located in the Clase area of Swansea. These improvements were needed to bring the client’s housing stock up to WHQS standards.

We completed surveys of each property to identify the exact nature of the works needed. Works were focussed on providing drying facilities for residents, as well as ensuring they have clean access paths, secure and clearly defined boundaries, appropriate fencing and hedges, trimmed to an adequate height. We completed the below works, in various combinations depending on the needs and requirements of each property:

  • Installation of concrete slabbed areas

  • Removal and replacement of existing steps, or forming new steps

  • Installing retaining walls, where needed

  • Localised repairs to brickwork and rock-face walls

  • Replacing/renewing isolated paving slabs

  • Installation of drainage channels/gullies

  • Concrete repairs

  • Chain link fence installation

  • Design and build timber/feather edge gates/fences

  • Installation of metal bow top pedestrian and driveway gates

  • Cutting hedges and herbaceous plants

This contract was carried out during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This created a number of challenges for the project team. The scope of the works required operatives to be working in close proximity and also in and around occupied properties. The Project team ensured that all the rules that were in place at the time were strictly adhered too. The team also organised collections for the local foodbank, to help give back to the community.
